While Hollywood writers and actors are on strike, generative AI just got better at generating full episodes of TV shows.

Greetings,

While Hollywood writers and actors are protesting, a startup called Fable just published a new method for generating whole episodes of popular TV series. Art was supposed to be the most difficult thing for AI to replicate, but it turned out to be one of the first things it does fairly well. How many other skills will AI surprise us with by the end of 2023?

  • New study confirms what ChatGPT users have been saying for a while – over time, instead of getting better, ChatGPT has actually gotten worse at solving problems, and it makes more mistakes. - arXiv

  • Qualcomm teams up with Meta to put Llama 2 on their phone and PC processors in 2024 – a big step towards a future where powerful AI models live on devices instead of in the cloud. - CNBC

  • Google is expanding their generative AI offer by releasing multiple enterprise-ready services as well as conversational capabilities in their Gen App Builder. - Google, Google

  • This is how Siri should work – engineer Justin Alvey presents his version of a GPT-3.5 powered AI assistant, and he will release blueprints soon if you’re a tinkerer who wants to replicate this. - Twitter

  • AutoChain is an alternative to both LangChain and AutoGPT – it’s a lightweight, extensible framework you can use to build an LLM-powered AI agent. - GitHub

  • One of the most exciting aspects of Llama 2 is that you can fine-tune it to handle specific tasks – Meta partner company Scale offers a free guide on how to do it, an open-source platform for it, and a premium enterprise offering. - Scale

  • Scared, stressed, underpaid workers behind Google’s Bard – humans that label inputs and evaluate outputs play a big part in AI development, but this report suggests that the treatment of these workers leaves much to be desired. - Yahoo

  • We’re getting closer to AI generating full episodes of popular TV series – SHOW-1 combines LLMs and multi-agent simulation, resulting in an AI showrunner that can create a whole South Park episode. - Fable
